setting goals for the new year

Every January, just like everyone else…I set goals for the upcoming year. Over the years as an adult, I have learned to become more specific with my goal making and to create categories for my goals.

Health goals are no different than any other goal. Here are some tips to help you make some good goals for 2025 and I will even share a few health goals of mine this year.

S: Be specific in setting the goal you want to achieve.

M: Set a metric to quantify the success of the outcome.

A: Challenge yourself, but make sure you’re able to achieve your goal.

R: Keep smaller goals relevant to higher goals.

T: Set a time frame for when you want to achieve your goal.

One of my physical goals this year is to be able to complete correct push ups during my workout routines. I am using Nourish Move Love goal sheet for this. This is an example of something specific. I also want to incorporate vegetables at every meal.

Metrics are what determine if you were successful. If I can complete my routines with regular push ups, that’s a win! If I can incorporate vegetables in my meals at least 5 days out of the week, each week, thats a win!

Sometimes to make things achievable, we have to take steps until we reach what we want. I am not doing 100 push ups every day to meet my goal, I am starting with 8 push ups at 3 different times per day, for three days. That amount will increase until I am comfortable doing them in my workouts. I am also reasonable in my expectations that this may take the whole year to accomplish.

By focusing on one small area, like eating vegetables or push ups, I am reaching my overall goal of optimal health as I age. If I just said my goal was to, “Be Healthy,” I wouldn’t get very far.

I bread my time frames down into smaller chunks and think on a daily basis. Did I meet my goal of vegetables at this one meal, today, this week, this month etc.

I do this type of goal setting in each area of my life: spiritual, mental, physical, education, business etc.

I am sharing two handouts for you to set your own goals for 2025. I also am putting a meal plan out for January for a small fee of $5. Go take a look.
